Some lucky representatives from various WCIG programs, including west@work, attended the Premier’s Gala Dinner on 17 March. The main purpose of the dinner was to officially launch the 2018 Cultural Diversity Week festivities for Victoria.
This year’s theme, ‘Proud to Belong’, is a poignant sentiment that closely relates to WCIG’s mission and program offerings, even beyond that of multiculturalism, and also encompassing inclusion and diversity as a whole.
It was also a great networking opportunity, with our team speaking with many community figures and government representatives. These connections are a valuable step in enabling WCIG to forge stronger and more holistic linkages to both work with and create new initiatives for a broader spectrum of cultural groups and also link with government agencies, community groups and other service providers.
WCIG looks forward to continuing to carry the spirit of being ‘Proud to Belong’ and its meaning within our community to strengthen our proactivity around employment and educational services for migrants and refugees, young people and other people from diverse backgrounds experiencing disadvantage.
